IELTS Listening Band Score Calculation
The IELTS Listening test is scored on a band scale of 0 to 9. The overall band score is calculated by taking the average of the scores obtained in each of the four sections of the test.
For example, if a test-taker scores 7.5 in Section 1, 8 in Section 2, 6.5 in Section 3, and 7 in Section 4, then the overall band score is calculated as follows:
(7.5 + 8 + 6.5 + 7) ÷ 4 = 7.5
The overall band score is rounded up or down to the nearest half-band. In the example above, the overall band score of 7.5 would be rounded up to a band score of 8.
It’s important to note that the band score for the IELTS Listening test is based on the number of correct answers, and there is no penalty for incorrect answers. Therefore, it is always recommended to attempt all questions in the test.
